Victoria City, Tamaulipas.- In an effort to provide the 43 municipalities of Tamaulipas with essential tools that establish the rules, plans, and legal regulations on the planning and control of human settlements, the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment (SEDUMA) promotes the review and modernization of Territorial Planning and Urban Development Programs.
The head of SEDUMA, Karina Lizeth Saldívar Lartigue, reported that they are working hand in hand with the municipalities to carry out participatory planning, to ensure that city growth goes hand in hand with respect for the environment, as committed by the governor, Américo Villarreal Anaya.
<p"The latest version of the current municipal programs in the state corresponds to 14% for the period 2020-2023, 7% between 2009-2013, and 79% to 2005 or earlier," she said.
The state official mentioned that the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment is immersed in the review and improvement of municipal programs from Rio Bravo, Altamira, Gustavo Diaz Ordaz, Valle Hermoso, Nuevo Laredo, Jimenez, and Soto La Marina, with the aim of promoting orderly and sustainable growth in these areas.
At the same time, work is being done on the Interstate Metropolitan Program of Tampico, which covers the interstate metropolitan area between Tamaulipas and Veracruz.
<p"It will strengthen governance and allow for attracting federal resources to provide better health, education, transportation services, among others, to the nearly one million inhabitants of that region."
Saldívar Lartigue mentioned that the State Program for Sustainable Development of Tamaulipas (PREDUST) is also being modernized, to develop a planning tool that projects a 30-year vision for the state, adapted to the needs of the municipalities, which have been classified into six zones: border, San Fernando, highlands, sugar cane, central, and south. Each of these zones will be treated individually to recognize their particular characteristics and align the proposed strategies with their specific vocation.
She emphasized that as part of the process of preparing these programs, a diagnostic study has been carried out, which has been the basis for conducting a series of citizen participation workshops, interviews, hearings, and public consultations, promoting inclusion and community input in decision-making.
